El Hondo Natural Park is one of the most important wetlands in Spain and a paradise for bird lovers. Over 170 species find their home here, including greater flamingos, herons and rare marbled teal and white-headed ducks.

El Hondo is a unique ecosystem of salt lagoons and marshes. The park is especially known for its rich birdlife and is an important rest stop for migratory birds. The park borders Dolores municipality and is easily accessible.

There are several marked walking routes through the park: Green route (5 km, 30 minutes, family-friendly), Blue route (7 km), and Red ornithological route (by appointment only). Bring binoculars and a camera - the photo opportunities are fantastic. All trails are flat and suitable for strollers and bicycles.

The visitor center (Centro de Visitantes Finca El Rincón) in San Felipe Neri, Crevillent, offers information about the flora and fauna. Entry and parking are completely free. Early in the morning and late in the afternoon are the best times for bird watching.
